There is a disturbing report to make tonight coming out from the Guinea Grass Village. While police say they are investigating and remain tight lipped, we have been reliably informed that a child has been treated and recovering from her injuries sustained while her step-father allegedly raped her.
This is not the first time that the accused has seen the police station due to complaints, but this time after hurting the girl so badly, he absconded. Since then, a man hunt and a reward to locate him was organized by community members and concerned residents. This morning the alleged rapist, whose name we cannot disclose so as to protect the identity of the child, was caught and handed over to police.
When we contacted police on the matter, we were told that the accused is no stranger to them but that his common law wife is always the one pleading at the station for his release and signing his bail. Chairman of the Village, Jose Hernandez told us via a telephone conversation today that the village which has over 4000 inhabitants only has one lone police man assigned for that community and so they took it up to find the perpetrator.
