diaDid you know that in Belize, Diabetes is among the leading cause of death in the country, with approximately 14 percent or about 49,000 Belizeans living with the disease? That is why, this year’s World Diabetes Day is being held under the theme “healthy Eating and Diabetes: Healthy Eating begins with breakfast”.

It highlights the importance of eating healthy to prevent Type II Diabetes and effective management to avoid complications. The initiative promotes the benefits of starting the day with a healthy breakfast, which can help individuals manage their weight and for diabetes, keep blood glucose levels stable.

A release from the Ministry of Health is encouraging staff to do group testing at the workplace, create a support medium where healthy eating is encouraged and organize staff participation to conduct activities that promote healthy lifestyles. World Diabetes Day is being observed on Friday, November 14th.
