From August 7th to the 13th youth across the country will be celebrating National Youth Week. One of the highlights of the week is the Belize Youth Award, a prestigious national honor bestowed on outstanding young Belizeans between the ages of 15 to 29 who throughout the year demonstrated high standards of achievement and commitments in various fields.

Presently nominations are being accepted country wide and YFF Orange Walk is asking you to nominate your candidate for the Belize Youth Award. According to YFF’s Edmer Patt categories include Sports, Media, Citizenship, Arts and Culture, Mentally and Physically Challenged, Youth Ministers Entrepreneurship and Academic Excellence.

“There will be nine categories in which you will awarded for and here are some of the audition category, which will be Youth Minister Award, which deals with leadership, persons which are very outspoken, like a role model in their community, also there is the Pacenter Award, which is the un- attached youth and also there is the Youth Peace corp. Award which deals with more talented youth in sports and also persons dealing with Disability Award, which deals with youth which are physically and mentally challenge, they have a passion or a success in either education community and other stuff and also we have the Entrepreneurship Award. There are three ways in which a person can nominate their candidate. First of all they can go to the website or they can call or fax the Belize Youth Award Office or they can come at the Youth for the Future Office for the application forms and they can come and fill it out.”

All applications will be examined by the Youth Awards Committee so as to identify the best candidates. Honorees will then receive their awards during a public ceremony scheduled for August 12th. Nominators are required to complete the nomination form and include copies of all relevant information including proof of achievements, valid I.D’s and recommendations. Deadline for submitting applications is July 31st.
