Over the years, Mujeres Ayudando A Mujeres a Superarse, MAMAS, has without a doubt left a mark here in the community. This past Saturday a group of women who took part in several courses offered graduated with honors. Founder Ofelia Novelo spoke on yet another accomplishment.

“We are here today after one year of training and hard work but first I would like to thank the almighty father for giving us life and for providing us with the strength and drive so succeed and I would like to thank my guest speaker Mrs. Mirna Manzanares for taking time out for being with us here today, for my teachers for the dedication on the students graduating here today and to all the sixteen women graduating here thank you, you found the needed equipment for yourself and the skill and knowledge to be your own boss. The courses that they took are cosmetology, pastries and barbering and that is the ones that are graduating here today.”

“How has the group grown over the years and do you foresee it being a continual program?”

“Yes, I think we will still be continuing ones I have health and strength and I think it will be growing up more because then we have accomplished more than, with this graduation we have accomplished more than 400 and odd ladies that have graduated over the course because we started in 2005 and up to now it is about 9 to 10 years.  I would like to congratulate the participants who are graduating here today and thank you all and may God bless you and may you have a merry Christmas and a happy new year.”


In January several new courses will commence including Cooking, Pastry making, Cake Decorating, Sewing and Cosmetology. Interested persons can call 322-2727.
