‘Tis the season to be jolly” goes the old saying and this is exactly how hundreds of children were this weekend as Orange Walk Central Area Representative held three children’s parties in his constituency. Here is a look at what transpired at the three events.

“For every Christmas we try to make it special for the children in Orange Walk Central and so we are here over in San Estevan and yesterday we were in San Lorenzo housing site and tomorrow we will be at the Phillip Alvares park, as we said Christmas is for children and we believe that by having a party for them, having all of them coming out here as a community along with their parents play games with them and give them gifts and give them goodies bags I think it is a small way where we can put a smile in the faces of these children.”

And the joy could be felt indeed as children played and screamed in excitement at each gathering. Even Santa Claus had his hands full with children flocking around him seeking one hug or a picture with him.

The first party was held at the San Lorenzo Housing Site. That was on Friday night. On Saturday, Santa and his team made their way to San Estevan Village where again they were crowded by excited children. On Sunday, the team went out to the Phillip Alvarez Park and even here they were met with eager little eyes.

Honorable John Briceno – Orange Walk Central Area Representative

“We’ve been having a lot of fun hugging them, kissing them, talking to them and asking them questions about school and you enjoy doing that but I think the thing that I enjoy the most is that when you give them a goodies bag they give you that wonderful smile and they would tell you thank you very much and you wish them merry Christmas and they wish you the same I think that is the most enjoyable or favorite part of the three days of activity that we have had.”

Throughout the parties, the team played games with the children and of course there is every child’s favorite part – snacks and an apple.

The Christmas Parties are an annual tradition for the constituency.
