There has been some talk about the possible resignation of former Prime Minister and P.U.P Fort George Area Representative Said Musa from politics. Earlier this week a national news channel reported that the seventy-one year old politician affirmed that while it is something that has been discussed, he had yet to make up his mind. Today we spoke with People’s United Party Leader Francis Fonseca who says that nothing has been decided but that if it should happen, the PUP is confident that the Fort George seat is safe.

“We have said very publicly that we are reviewing the entire structure of the party, we made certain changes already to the campaign committee and we are looking at everything how can we make the party more effective, but in the case of Mr. Musa no such decision has been taken by Mr. Musa or by anybody else in the party at this point.”

“So far, it could be viewed just as rumor?”

Honorable Francis Fonseca – PUP Party Leader

“Yeah, at this point it is just speculation, Mr. Musa as you know made it clear that he getting up in the age and he has been thinking about that whether or not he should run in the next election, that is no secret and he said that and so he is yet to make a final decision as to what he wants but at the end of the day we will respect whatever decision he makes.”

“Should he decide to actually resign from that position or his post, has the party considered or the party think about anybody in particular in mind for that?”

Honorable Francis Fonseca – PUP Party Leader

“No, no we haven’t reach and we haven’t discussed, as I said Mr. Musa is the representative for Fort George and unless that changes then we will have to discuss that issue.”

“Would you say you worried if that decision should be taken because that is one of the PUP strong hold for the past years?”

Honorable Francis Fonseca – PUP Party Leader

“No, no I think I wouldn’t be worried at all I think the PUP can win Fort George, Mr. Musa obviously will support any candidate who goes into Fort George if he decides to step down so I wouldn’t be worried about that I think Fort George is a strong PUP seat and will remain a strong PUP seat.”

Said Musa has served seven terms in the House of Representatives.
