Maria Correa – Coordinator, Festival of Arts

“Well, this year we have seen a great improvement from years ago, yes.”

Correa says that art makes up an important part of the students’ curriculum and is pleased to see that students have been improving each year and that parents have been supportive of the program as well.

Maria Correa – Coordinator, Festival of Arts

“Art is a subject and it is in the curriculum so this is what the children are learning to be creative, to participate and to act and be part of their school, so they are representing their school right now and art is a subject, yes.”

“So, it plays a vital role for them?”

Maria Correa – Coordinator, Festival of Arts

“Yes, this is where we can see what the children have learnt, however in some presentations you can see what input the children and the teacher put in and we have to give thanks to the parents who are really supportive this.”

At least twenty schools made their presentations in the afternoon session of the Festival of Arts. The Golden evening is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon at the Corozal Civic Center. The best of all presentations will be highlighted at that event.
