After waiting for trial for close to two years today the case against Denny Grijalva, his wife Maria, his foreman Javier Nunez and excavator operator Emir Cruz for the destruction of the Noh Mul Archeological Site began at the Corozal Magistrates Court.
The case is being heard before Magistrate Hurl Hamilton and today three witnesses called by the Crown Counsel represented by …Banner took the stand and were also cross examined by the attorney of the defendant’s Bryan Neal.
After hearing the testimony of the three witnesses Magistrate Hamilton ….adjourned the case to Wednesday June 3rd when members of the media are expected to take the stand.
Viewers might recall that on the 28th of June 2013, the owners of Demars Stone Company Denny Grijalva and his wife along with Emil Cruz were charged for willfully damaging an ancient monument and removing earth from an ancient monument while Nuñez was charged for causing the destruction of an ancient monument.
All four pleaded not guilty to the charges and were offered bail in the sum of $5000 plus a surety in the same amount.
As previously mentioned the ancient archaeological site was destroyed to obtain material for road fill.
