noimageA resident of Corozal sustained injuries after being the victim of a road traffic incident. According to reports, on Friday night around 9:00, Azir Zalazar was riding his bicycle on College Road in Corozal when he was hit by a car and began experiencing pain to his hands and legs. Zalazar was taken to the hospital by Kenroy Samuels, a 43 year old customs officer who was behind the wheel at the time. Police say that Samuels was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol and subsequently detained.  Samuels was then informed in the presence of a doctor, that a blood and urine sample was needed but he refused. He was later taken to the Corozal Police Station where a notice of intended prosecution was given. Samuels is also expected to be charged with “failure to provide specimen.”
