noimageThe economy growth of our country depends on many factors, most of the time these factors are overlooked and taken for granted, and our country remains to rely on an external assistance. While many here at home are yet to realize the profit that our jewel could generate, our Mexican neighbors see potential.

Proof of that statement is a meeting that will be held on Monday June 29th in Villahermosa, Tabasco between business owners, including travel, agencies of Chetumal and Belize.

The purpose of the reunion will be to offer tour packages which will not only include packages at preferential rates but also tourist attractions in the southern part of Quintana Roo and in the Belizean coast.

The president of the Camara Nacional de Comercio in Chetumal, Ligia Sierra Aguilar, reported that at least six Belize entrepreneurs, hotels and tourist services will join in the caravan of companies for the reunion.

Trips to Belize will be within the packages offered and as such eyes are set on the island of San Pedro, Placencia and Belize City. The country’s Commercial Free Zones are being promoted as the perfect places for those interested in shopping.

The aim, we understand, is not only to promote these areas as tourist destinations during the high season but also to attract permanent visitors so as to revive the economy of the tourism market in these areas.

CANACO expects to see results of these promotions in the summer, which is the second half of July, and has a target of at least five thousand visitors to both countries.
