anthonyAn keeping the stories in the political ring, tomorrow, constituents from Dangriga will take to the polls for the Bye-election between PUP’s Anthony Sabal and UDP’s Frank “Papa” Mena. This bye-election comes after the resignation of Honourable Ivan Ramos on June 8th, 2015 as area representative of the Dangriga electoral division, including Hope Creek and Sarawee. Political apprentice Anthony Sabal will go up against veteran politician and former U.D.P. Mayor Frank “Pawpa” Mena and from all indications will make for great fight. Leading to the date, the P.U.P. had considered boycotting the election because of a lack of resources. Meanwhile, on the other side of the red fence, Papa Mena has the support of the Government with its high-powered Petrocaribe program. And while both candidates are ready, a bulletin floating in social media is raising eyebrows as it is alleging that Frank Papa Mena has been involved in the passport hustling ring. The bulletin is dated July 29th, 2013 and is addressed to Maria Marin, Director of the Immigration Department.

Whether that will play a factor in tomorrow’s bye-election is yet not known. It is of note though, that voters of Dangriga, Hope Creek and Sarawee together comprises of 6,275 registered voters.
