Samir_VivasWhile the 15 year old minor is now in police custody that is no consolation for the family of 23 year old Samir Vivas, especially his mother, Anabell Vivas, who told us today she was at her house in the village of Calcutta when she received the shocking news of her son had been stabbed.

Anabel Vivas- Mother of deceased

“I live in Calcutta Village roughly about eight in the night my mom called me and told me to please come up here at her house and I told her for what and she say [beep] just stabbed your son and looked like injure is deep so just please hurry come up.  By the time I reached here catch a taxi from the village and got here I went in there and I told my mom what happened and she told me [beep] stabbed Zamir so then I say where is Zamir and I see my son was right there lying down on the ground and then I went and I approached him and I told him Zamir, Zamir lets go, lets go and the taxi was waiting here for me and tell him if could please help to carry this boy to the hospital and then my mother told me that he was drinking earlier and then she told me that the stabbing happened over there at the labor and then he came here running and say he got stabbed and he just collapse right there.”

As mentioned at the top of the newscast, Vivas was no stranger to the law. Officer Commanding the Corozal Police Formation Superintendent Dennis Arnold spoke to us about some of the crimes he had been accused of committing.

Superintendent Dennis Arnold- Officer Commanding Corozal Police Formation

“We have a long, long running with Mr. Vivas, whilst I was the officer in charge of Orange Walk we dealt there with him about five or six different times and Corozal police have dealt with him also so he was known to the police and he has been to prison several times.”

As mentioned, Viva’s body await a post mortem examination.
