Screen_Shot_2015-08-05_at_7.52.13_PMIn the wee hours of this morning, authorities responded to a vehicle fire reported on Rio Bravo Street in Orange Walk Town. Upon arrival at the scene around 2:20am, officials saw a white Kia Sportage engulfed in flames.

Fire officials responded swiftly and were able to doze the fire and immediately an investigation ensued. The vehicle is said to belong to P.C Antony Guzman who is presently working at the Caye Caulker Police Station. Authorities say they are looking at the incident as arson since they recovered one small plastic bottle which is suspected to have been used to carry fuel to start the fire. As you can see the vehicle’s interior was totally destroyed by fire.

Residents we spoke to off camera say they heard a loud smash as if a window was broken and shortly after they heard crackling noises. Eyewitnesses say they saw two men leaving the area shortly after the fire erupted.

Of concern to those persons we spoke to was that the response of police was slow. According to them when they called the station they were informed that no vehicle was available. Residents say if the police had responded when called, they would have managed to capture to two men. Meanwhile no formal report has been made to police.
