The Ministry of Health has for the past few years been promoting breastfeeding and that campaign is nowhere near over. This is “Breastfeeding week and it is being observed under the theme “Breastfeeding and Work, Let’s Make it Work” and will be commemorated from August 1st to 7th, 2015. As part of the events to observe the week, a workshop will be held to promote and facilitate breastfeeding at workplaces. Now there have been mixed feelings about breastfeeding in public across different societies, but the benefits, as far as medical specialists indicate are immeasurable as it is the best source of nourishment for infants and young children and go beyond the first months of life. The workshop hopes to sensate managements of workplaces of the importance of promoting, protecting and supporting breastfeeding in the workplace. In a release issued today by the Ministry of Health, quote, “There is sufficient evidence that shows breastfeeding in the workplace impacts directly on the health of the infant and mother which is seen immediately and is long lasting,” unquote. The workshop will be held at the Radisson Fort George Hotel and Marina on August seventh. Additional activities include radio and TV Morning Shows.The Collet Education and Resource Center Breastfeeding Counseling Service in collaboration with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), the Institute on Nutrition for Central America and Panama (INCAP) and the Ministry of Health are organizing the one day workshop.
