The 18th annual Belikin 8-ball tournament took place in the Corozal District over the weekend at the Andres Campos Civic Center. The event featured teams from Punta Gorda, Cayo, Belmopan, Stann Creek, Belize, Orange walk and Corozal.
At the end of the tournament Corozal took first place and Belize City second place. All in all the tournament was organized to promote the sport of Billiards and according to President of the Belize Billiards Association Isaias Lima, their aim was accomplished.
“This is the eighteenth annual Belikin 8 Ball Tournament comprising from the districts of the entire country of Belize; we have PG, Stann Creek, Belmopan, Cayo, Orange Walk, Corozal have two representations being the host district they have two representations, we had a total of eight teams participating.”
“From your expectations, who do you think will take the first prize?”
It is difficult to say because last year elements of Belize City were the national champions and this year they are in the losers bracket already but it is anybody’s game because the ball just keep on rolling.”
The Corozal team received the first place prize of $3,000 dollars and the Belize City team took the second prize of $1,500.00.
