With the country plunged into a political fever pitch, everyday leading to the General Elections is interesting, at least where the news is concerned. Today ramblings on the street is that a new political candidate is contemplating throwing his name in the upcoming General Election ring.
From what we have been able to gather, former UDP Mayor of Orange Walk Town, Philip De La Fuente has his eyes set to run in Orange Walk Central. Whether he will run independent or under the umbrella of the newly formed Belize Progressive Party is not yet known. But what we can tell you is that we spoke to De la Fuente briefly today where he expressed that he is still in the deciding stages and will know for certain on Thursday after consulting with his family. That’s a huge revelation since De La Fuente is known as a die-hard UDP.
Of note is that Orange Walk Central is a known strong hold for the People’s United Party under the leadership of John Briceno who has never lost an election since 1993 when he was first elected as Area Representative. We’ll keep monitoring this story as it develops.
