Screen_Shot_2015-11-12_at_6.23.53_PMEach year around this time, police departments around the country “beef up” their presence on the streets and security measures to curb crime especially during this holiday season. First to announce their security plan was the Orange Walk Police formation.  According to Officer Commanding the formation, Assistant Superintendent Selvin Tillett, its Christmas Anti-Crime Campaign will commence from the 15th of November 2015 and end the 15th January 2016.

ASST. SUPT SELVIN TILLETT – Officer Commanding, OW POLICE

“During this Christmas season police will increase foot patrol in business areas in the Orange Walk Town, also you will see increase in mobile patrols in the highway in an effort to minimize accidents, police will target drunk drivers public drinking and enforce the intoxicating liquor act, we will be launching several operations targeting gang members, drunk trafficking, firearms and human traffickers and smugglers our increase in patrols is just as an effort to make Orange Walk more peaceful so that you people can enjoy a very nice Christmas.”

As a side note, Tillett says whilst many culprits prey on easy targets, he advises shop owners and businesses to use their discretion on closing and operating times.
