Authorities are investigating a robbery which left a business owner shaken and short of several personal items worth over one thousand dollars. According to the cops, business woman Dora Suyapa Escalante reported that on Saturday November 14th around 12:30am whilst at her business place namely Dora's Cool Spot situated on San Antonio Road, two male persons with blue rags covering their faces arrived at the establishment and demanded her belongings.
One of the men placed a knife to her abdomen and fearing for her life, Escalante handed over her purse containing $950.00bcy in mostly $50.00bcy denominations, one gold chain valued at $400.00bcy, two perfumes valued at $200.00bcy and $125.00bcy respectively. The men made good their escape with a total of $1675.00bcy dollars in valuables.
Several burglary reports are being investigated including an incident that occurred in the Mennonite community of Shipyard Village in Orange Walk. According to the report, Johan Peters, presently living in Camp 23 of Shipyard Village, reported to police that on Monday October 26th 2015, about 5:00am, he left his house located in Shipyard and upon his return on Friday 13th 2015, noticed that his house was broken into. Stolen from within was 12 rolls of barbed wire valued at $1,152.00 bcy, one wall clock valued $200.00 bcy, one spray pump valued at $150.00 bcy. His mechanic shop was also broken into and several tools were stolen. At this time the total amount of property stolen is $1,500.00.
Investigators are also looking into another robbery report. Fred Reneau, Belizean Shrimp vendor of August Pine Ridge Village reported that on the 11th of November between the hours of 8:30am and 2:00pm someone burglarized his concrete and wooden house located in August Pine Ridge. Stolen from within was one 15 inch ACER Laptop valued at $2,000, $150.00bcy in cash, cologne and other toiletries and a piggy bank. The total value of items stolen amounted to $2,541.00.
