Screen_Shot_2016-01-05_at_7.41.52_PMLast night at about 8:40 p.m. authorities were called out to Selena Village in the Cayo District where they discovered the lifeless body of a male dressed in a blue jeans pant and white T-shirt. The body was later identified as thirty seven year old Matthiew Klinck, a Canadian national, producer and film-maker.

When police arrived at the residence, they observed that the house had been ransacked. Klinck was stabbed fourteen times on the left side of his face, neck and torso. Police say that the body was in an initial stage of decomposition and remains on the site and under the guard of police officers where it awaits a post mortem examination.

The body was first discovered by two of Klinck’s friends who went to visit him last night. While investigations continue, the Canadian Consulate has been informed via email and Klinck’s mother along with other family members will be travelling to Belize on Thursday.
