Screen_Shot_2016-01-05_at_7.42.05_PMSixty five year old Belizean businessman Henry Tabony August was arrested in Honduras for money laundering today after he was found in possession of $16,490.00 which he failed to declare  at the Juan Manuel Galvez International Airport in Roatan, Islas de la Bahia, Honduras.

 

According to La Prensa Newspaper of Honduras, August, who carried a Belizean passport with the number P0291601, was unable to justify the large sum of money and as such was transferred to the Public Ministry charged with the crime of money laundering. According to the Anti- Money Laundering laws, anyone traveling with more than $ 10,000 or its equivalent has to make a statement before the appropriate authority.

 

August was caught with US$16, 490.00 in different denominations. Sixty nine $100.00 notes, 17 $10.00 notes, 34 $50.00 notes and 386 $20.00 notes, according to La Prensa Newspaper.
