Screen_shot_2011-08-23_at_7.51.37_PMA broad daylight armed robbery in Orange Walk Town has left three persons, including one minor shaken. The incident happened around 5:30 this morning while Maritza Vasquez, Erica Tuz and a minor were selling tacos right beside Briceno’s Glass Shop located on Bakers Street. The trio started their days work at 5:00am and approximately half an hour after, they were robbed at gunpoint by two men wearing a red rag over their face who came running from the direction of Lover’s Lane.

According to Maritza Vasquez who spoke to us off camera, as the men approached the tacos stand, the individual armed with the firearm placed the gun on her back and demanded that she hand over the money and all her jewelry. Fearing for her life and the life of the others Vazquez handed over $1,500 in cash belonging to her, 2 gold chains, a gold bracelet, cell phone and an undisclosed amount of cash from the morning’s sale.

The assailants also demanded that Tuz hand over her belongings. Fearing for her life she handed over $50.00 in cash and her cell phone. With money and jewelry in hand the men then made good their escape by running in the direction of Lovers Lane. According to Vasquez it is the first time that they are being robbed. So far no one has been arrested and police are investigating.
