Screen_Shot_2016-04-25_at_6.24.55_PMTonight Corozal Police believe to have in custody the man who fired at Gilberto Najarro Sarsenio several times thus claiming his life. While the name of the individual or where he was detained is yet to be released police confirmed to us that an ID parade is expected to take place tomorrow to ascertain if the detainee is indeed the man that gun downed Sarsenio.

The forty three year old cane farmer from Paraiso Village, Corozal, and a co-worker were working at a cane field on April 26th when they were ambushed at around 10:00 in the morning by two men who has threatened them the day before.

The story unfolded on Sunday April 25th when Najarro and his co-worker were at the cane field working and were approached by two men: a father and son who accused Najarro and the other individual of stealing their bicycle and threatened to harm them if the bicycle was not returned.

Najarro took the threat lightly and the following day he was dead and his companion was lucky to have escaped. Police believe that the father and son are the ones who attacked both men but the son was the one who pulled the trigger and tonight he is in police custody.

We will have more on this story in tomorrow’s newscast.
