noimageAs part of the 2.2 million dollars project for the Prevention and Control of Chronic Renal Failure funded by the Taiwanese Government, two general practitioners and two dialysis nurses from Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital and La Loma Luz Adventist Hospital have been awarded the privilege of receiving a training program on kidney disease and dialysis, which will take place in Far Eastern Memorial Hospital located in New Taipei City during June 13th~August 12th, 2016.

The 2-month training program was designed for general practitioners, and focuses on general kidney disease diagnosis, therapy and dialysis; while the training program for dialysis nurses focuses on care and quality management of hemodialysis. After receiving pertinent training these individuals will be the seed instructors to have a local training program for Belizean medical personnel in the future.

Dr. Glenford Jones from Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital and Mr. Dieudonne Sah from La Loma Luz Adventist Hospital expressed their expectation for this training, stating that they hope to bring a wealth of knowledge to Belize to assist in the prevention and control of renal disease in Belize.

The primary objective of the project is to facilitate the mutual cooperation in health fields and enhance the welfare of people in Belize as well as to develop and greatly improve the prevention and control system of Chronic Renal Failure in Belize.
