noimageAs a result of the two separate shooting incidents that occurred yesterday in Belize City which claimed the lives of twenty year old Telvin Palmer and nineteen year old Devin Parham both believed to be gang related, the National Youth Council issued a press release just a few hours ago to express their deepest sympathy to the families of the individuals and to also speak out about this issue of grave concern as it involves the constant slaying of members of the younger generation.

And while the aim of the Council is to uplift and encourage youths to engage in positive activities and fight for their protection, the Council is very much concerned at this point in time and are seeking a solution to this problem so as to affect a change in the lives of many young people.

The Council is asking the Belize Police Department to collaborate with them and involve them in discussions, plans and meetings as it relates to the community outreach programs that involve the younger generation. They are assuring that the Council will take the responsibility of conveying all messages given by the police officers to the youths in an effort to re-establish both trust and confidence.

Secondly, the Council seeks to target parents, teachers as well as members of the community to assist in guiding the youths in a positive and respectable manner so that this problem can be resolved. The purpose of reaching out to them is to ensure that there is zero negligence on their behalf.

Lastly, the Council is asking the youths to support them in their campaign for peace to combat hate, war and crime in a whole in order to protect our country. They are offering the youths as well as the general public to assist them in seeking solutions that will serve to address this concern. Individuals who wish to give their input are asked to kindly contact the Council via email at Nationalyouthcouncilbz.com
