Screen_Shot_2016-07-18_at_8.01.59_PMThe Orange Walk Football Federation in collaboration with the Orange Walk national football team, today started the selection process for the under seventeen tournament where football teams from all across the country will face off in hope of being drafted by the Football Federation of Belize to form the national team.

Nicki Ramos- Head Coach- OW National Team

“Today we are starting a session where we are going to be picking up players for the to make it to a National Team to represent Orange Walk. We have quite a few boys coming out and we are going to see what they have and based on that we are going to select a team to represent Orange Walk in the district eliminations, it’s a three day tournament that will be held in Belmopan and there we will compete against other districts.”

Orange Walk has long been ignored in the field of football, something that according to Head coach for the Orange Walk selection, Nicki Ramos, must change.

Nicki Ramos- Head Coach- OW National Team

“Orange Walk has been a district that has been abandoned and we have talent in Orange Walk and we need to show them that and with events not that we only say it like that but Orange Walk is good but we need to show it to them.”

The selection of the Orange Walk team though, is not only about highlighting the sport of football or talent……it is also about engaging our youth in productive activities.

Nicki Ramos- Head Coach- OW National Team

“Today is the first day of training and we will be training the whole week and I want to invite the next players that are out there to come out tomorrow here at Louisiana from 2 to 4 and come out and try maybe they can catch the selection.”

The three day district eliminations will be held in Belmopan on the 5th, 6th and 7th of August. Young football players are invited to visit the Louisiana field from 2:00 to 4:00pm.
