earlAs the works continue to restore normalcy in our country following the passage of Hurricane Earl early on Thursday morning, the government of Belize is seeking international aid to cover the hundreds of millions of dollars in lost. Hurricane Earl brought with it strong winds that ripped roofs off buildings, uprooted trees and caused widespread power outages around the nation, and the inundation caused by heavy rains caused damage to approximately two thousand homes in the Belize District alone, not counting damages caused to homes in the Cayes.

Today the Republic of China through its embassy in Belize announced that the Government of China Taiwan has donated a total of one hundred thousand US dollars to the government of Belize for post Hurricane relief.

The donation was made to help rescue and relief efforts in disaster-affected areas and assist the affected people in getting their lives back to normal as soon as possible.

A statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belize, indicates that the Republic of China embassy in Belize was also quick to extend the government’s sympathy and regards to Belize.
