As mentioned Belmopan Area Representative Honorable John Saldivar is on a one-week suspension as the Office of the Prime Minister seeks legal advice on whether the steps taken by the Minister were enough to effectively sever the business relationship established between himself and accused murderer William “Danny” Mason.

Today, attorney Kareem Musa spoke about the share document which recently surfaced showing that Mason had 30 percent of shares in the Belmopan Bandits Football Club.

“We cannot accept John Saldivar’s explanation any longer that he was just a contributor, these individuals were clearly business partners, there was clearly a joint venture relationship between John Saldivar and William Danny Mason as it relates to the Belmopan Bandits Football Club, so what the minister, I don’t know if I should call him as the suspended minister or the current minister or the former minister, what Minister Saldivar did once William Danny Mason was arrested for murder and went to jail he then formed a new company, a new business name in August of this year and it shows August of this year, a full year after he entered into a business relationship  a legally business binding relationship with William Danny Mason where he has to declare all profits to William Danny Mason because William Danny Mason is entitled to 30% of the profits let us not forget that so for John Saldivar to then take the Belmopan Bandits Football Club away from this company that William Danny Mason is a part of and put it under another name that is completely illegal.”

Musa also explained what would have had to happen for Saldivar’s actions to be legal.

Honorable Kareem Musa – Attorney at Law

“Unless John Saldivar can show this nation where one; either he has given back the fifty thousand dollars to William Mason or two; that company has been dissolved by one of the parties which I take it would John Saldivar, William Mason can’t dissolve it because he is in jail but I have not seen any prove that that company has been dissolved so for all intends and purposes legally John Saldivar cannot steal or take William Mason’ Company the company that he has with William Mason and the put it into another company’s name that is unlawful, that is illegal and if William Mason was out this with no doubt would have either ended before the criminal courts or the civil courts so that is left to be seen and I for one will never represent no William Mason or Danny Mason but I can tell you that not because he did wrong that entitles the minister to also do a wrong.”

In his statement clarifying the situation, the Honorable John Saldivar wrote quote “The existence of this now defunct company simply confirms and validates what John Saldivar has maintained from the very beginning which is that he and Mr. Mason were to be partners in the Belmopan Bandits Football Club. The minute John Saldivar severed ties with Mr. Mason, Mr. Saldivar stopped the process of registering the new company name with FIFA and continued using the original club name the Belmopan Bandits Football and Sporting Club.” Saldivar further explains that in December 2015 there was a move to rename the organization as Bandits Sports. He adds quote “The company registered with Mr. Mason never officially functioned and the allotment of the remaining 9,990 shares was never done because as is now abundantly clear, John Saldivar changed his mind about his partnership with Mr. Mason” after hearing about his alleged past.” End quote
