The Corozal Rotary Club held a regular meeting today for members to finalize plans for the arrival of the Rayjon Eye Clinic specialists in Corozal Town. This is a medical team that comes to town every year and assists with much needed ophthalmology services to residents. Their next trip to Belize is in two weeks and we spoke to the President and Secretary of the Rotary Club to find out more.

“We have the Rayjon Eye Clinic coming from Canada to do a free eye clinic for us on November 7t through 11th it will be at the Methodist eye clinic from eight until four and it is first come first serve and the nice to know is that they have been here several times, the most recent was in 2011 and they bring a staff of twenty plus people and they bring at least 2000 pairs of free glasses they will be distributing to people and they volunteer their time completely and so we are going to take care and sponsoring them through the Rotary club of Corozal and it is first come first serve and I want to make sure everybody knows that.”

Ron Zurlinden, Secretary, Corozal Rotary Club

“On Thursday we will have a staff volunteer that will help with the hearing impaired and they will be able to sign and not sign so they won’t have any issues with those having hearing issues and then we are also asking for a one dollar Belizean in donation to offset some of the cost for this great initiative so we are looking for everyone to come out here.”

The medical team is hoping to be able to see 100 persons per day.
