ninaViewers may recall the sensational story of Baby Nina, who captivated the hearts of all Belizeans after she was removed from the custody of her mother by the Department of Human Services, in November of last year, acting on a request from the Guatemalan central authority.

The child was born in Guatemala, the father is a Guatemalan citizen, and when Nina’s mother, Analiz Gutierrez, a Belizean citizen returned home to Belize with Nina, the father of the child was able to apply for full custody of the child in a Guatemalan court, after claiming that Gutierrez wrongfully removed the baby from Guatemala.

The last we heard of baby Nina, she was being returned to Guatemala after the Belize Family Court handed down its decision on February 12th of this year to have Nina returned to Guatemala, where legal battles over her custody and eventual home were to be fought.

Well today we can tell you that the story of Baby Nina, has finally reached its happy ending. According to posts on social media by Nina’s family members, after an entire year being away from her mother three year old Nina has finally been reunited with her after judges in Guatemala ruled in favor of Analiz Gutierrez.

Our news team tried to get in contact with Nina’s mom and her grandmother Lizandra Gutierrez but we were made to understand that they are still in Peten, Guatemala, arranging paper work to return Nina to Belize.
