On last night’s newscast we told you about the charges of aggravated assault and carnal knowledge which were filed against well-known Dr. Marco Tulio Mendez in early 2015 and were dropped yesterday after the police informed the Court that they will not be proceeding with the case.
In February 2015, the personal and political life of the former PUP Orange Walk East Area Representative was dragged through the mud when he was charged with six counts of aggravated assault of an indecent nature. In August 2015 those accusations intensified when he was charged with an additional three counts of carnal knowledge.
With the charges dropped, Mendez can finally breathe a sigh of relief. Today we got an opportunity to speak with. He was emotional and told us how the entire ordeal affected his life and how he plans to leave it all behind now that it is all over.

“I am very glad that this is over and it has been a very difficult phase in my life, I really want to thank everybody who was there supporting me and I want to thank my family especially that was around and all of those friends and supporters that gave me that help definitely it was a very difficult phase of my life and thanks God I was able to have the strength and to move on. It was very difficult for me, the initial phase was a shock but the support was there and my family and friends it took a while but I was able to gain my composure and focusing on how to deal with it.”
Mendez’ Attorney, Dickie Bradley, today explained the details of what occurred in the case that led to the withdrawal of the charges.
Attorney Dickie Bradley – Attorney at Law
“The matter was done in the preliminary inquiry stage and moved on to the magistrate court to the Supreme Court and then yesterday it came up but the judge had a former note from the prosecutor that they were not proceeding the case at the request of the family, so Dr. Marco Tulio Mendez is in fact completely out of that legal problem and stress that he was under for six very serious charges against family members.”
Dr. Mendez now hopes to leave the entire ordeal in the past and to continue serving the residents of Orange Walk as a well-known and prominent physician.
