true_blue_1There is major political tonight coming out of the People’s United Party Northern Caucus. At a meeting held on Saturday November 12th, the Caucus agreed to undertake a recall of Orange Walk North UDP area representative Gaspar Vega. A release from the Caucus indicates that Vega should be removed for the clear evidence of dishonest acts. But the release also says they should need to get rid of Vega through the ballot, and instead Vega should resign immediately because many land scandals under his administration as the Minister of Lands, point to blatant nepotism, cronyism and egregious cases of conflict of interest.

The Northern Caucus also called for the immediate disclosure of the compensation list which the CEO in the Ministry of Natural Resources, Sharon Ramclam, indicated was being compiled at a press conference on October 17th.

The PM also demands that Ramclam and former CEO, now Minister Beverly Castillo, be investigated, following the revelation of questionable documents bearing their signatures.

Finally, the Northern Caucus called for an independent inquiry of the Lands Department during the 2008 to 2015 tenure of Gaspar Vega.

No specifics were given as to when the Party unit sought to embark on the recall exercise.
