Information reaching our newsroom just before news time indicates that sixty two year old Matilde Ku of August Pine Ridge Village here in the Orange Walk District passed away sometime after 3:30 this evening while being incarcerated at the Kolbe Foundation. According to authorities, the cause of death was determined as Cardio Respiratory Arrest. Ku had been convicted approximately three years ago after a search was conducted at his residence by Orange Walk Police on the morning of June 23rd, 2014. The search led to the discovery of a 16 gauge shotgun, six 16 gauge cartridges, one 20 gauge cartridge, and 386.3 grams of cannabis. Police also managed to discover a clearing in Ku’s yard which contained one hundred seedlings of marijuana along with two separate bags containing four and nine pounds of marijuana respectively.
