Late last year word got out of Anwar Barrow’s decision to leave the post of Chief Executive Officer at the state-owned Belize Telemedia Ltd after holding the top position for over three years. Since that announcement was made BTL has been in pursuit of a suitable successor to the post.
A release issued today by the company announced the appointment of Mr. Rochus Schreiber as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BTL with effect Wednesday, April 5th 2017.
According to the release Schreiber takes over from Ivan Tesucum, BTL’s Chief Financial Officer, who had been acting as company CEO following Barrow’s resignation.
In terms of experience and qualifications BTL’s new CEO is said to boast over 20 years of professional experience, including multiple executive positions in the fields of telecommunications, broadband and cable television. He has worked in diverse global settings throughout the Americas and Europe, Sr. Vice President for Global Services at SeaChange International in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, a leading software and services provider for cable operators, telcos, mobile providers and media companies. Within the Caribbean region, has served as CEO of Digicel’s local operations in Anguilla, Nevis and Montserrat.
While Barrow has left the position of CEO of the company he still sits in the Board of Directors.
