Screen_Shot_2017-07-12_at_8.17.10_PMA Sarteneja man was today fined over six hundred dollars in the Belize City Magistrates court for being in possession of undersized lobsters.

 


Forty seven year old Fransisco Villamil, was caught yesterday at Home Protector Park located off Coney Drive in Belize City by Fisheries officer, Nikkeon Gomez, in possession of twenty lobsters weighing under the subscribed four ounces.

Villamil appeared today before Senior Magistrate, Sharon Fraser, to answer to a single charge of ‘possession of undersized lobsters’ to which he pled guilty. A fine of $200 plus a $5.00 cost of court fine was imposed for the offense. He has until July 31st, 2017 to pay this fine, in default will spend two months in prison. Villamil was additionally fined $20.00 per each undersized lobster found in his possession, amounting to a total of $400 of which he was given until August 31st, 2017 to pay.
