A family of four in Corozal Town is trying to pick up the pieces and get back to normal after a fire totally destroyed their homes on Saturday morning. The family is accepting donations of building material, food and clothing as they lost everything in the fire. And one group that has responded quickly to the appeal is the PUP Town Council slate. This morning PUP Mayoral Candidate Rigo Vellos and the town council team members gathered donations of food and clothing and delivered them to Glen Roches and Zolany Whitaker. Vellos told us that the slate stands ready to help the fire victims meaningfully.

“This morning the PUP town council slat decided to bring some stuff to the fire victims, some groceries, some clothes you know the basic necessities, here in Corozal we need to bring back this love for one another, the PUP slate represents true love and we want to make sure that we try to reach out as many people as possible who are in need and being a fire victim is not nice so we are trying to give back the love to the people and as a team we had decided that we are going to see how much we can help with whatever we could and at the same time I am asking the public to please help these fire victims who are in need at this moment be it they can bring more groceries, more clothes and they can also assist by bringing building materials so that the fire victim can build back their house and if possible a better and stronger house.”

“I want to say that I am happy for everyone that is assisting me and for every help they come and give me and I want to say thanks for everyone for being by my side and for those who are reaching out to me as well.”

“Whatever people can offer we are grateful for that.”

Neither Roches nor Whitaker have cellular phones. They live in the White Cocal area of Corozal Town. This afternoon, members of the PUP slate returned to the site to help with the removal of the dangerous debris.
