Another party who has objected to the $8m contract for the upgrading of Faber Road in Belize City, is the activist group COLA. COLA, through their attorney Kareem Musa, has requested to see the contract details through the Freedom of Information Act, and is awaiting a response from Ministry of Works CEO Errol Gentle. This issue is just one in which COLA has clashed with the Government. Yesterday, COLA’s President Geovanni Brackett expressed total frustration with the Barrow Administration, and even called for civil disobedience.

“That we’ve seen the murder and execution of Albert Cathouse and we’ve seen unsolved murders, you Joules were threatened at once, we live in a very violent society, we have a low conviction rate, and we live in a time whereby we have a third term government that feels that they have unlimited power, I think that it is very high time that our colleagues and affiliates throughout this country and the fifteen hundred that is connected to COLA start do something in their vicinity to send a message straight to the Prime Minister that we will no longer tolerate his rogue government and yes we do endorse and if you are asking that if we are going to take this to the streets I think we have many reasons to take many things to the streets and we will we are not taking this lightly any at all not just this contract but everything that is going on right now calls for direct action and civil disobedience that the Prime Minister once call for, I think that the opposition leader has gotten the message whether he got I know we at COLA has gotten it a message was sent to us and it was well received and I think a message should be sent right back to the head that this country, I mean Rome needs to be burnt down and it needs to be cleanest, Rome needs to be clean inside out, every bridge in Rome needs to be blocked, every street should have a protest we need to turn things up and we need to let the United Nations every international organization know that we have a political mafia in administration who is using fear and heavy tactic to suppress the advocacy and suppress justice in this country.”
