RigoYou heard PUP Corozal Town Mayoral Candidate Rigo Vellos call on the outgoing Corozal Town Mayor Hilberto Campos and the Town Council to stop granting contracts to Imer Hernandez Development Company Limited for street works in that municipality. Vellos said that the evidence that the company delivers questionable work is overwhelming therefore the Council should look to more competent contractors, including the local ones in the Corozal District. Well, Vellos is keeping the pressure and yesterday he wrote the Mayor directly, calling on the Council’s provision of the contracts for street works to be made public. Vellos stated in his letter that the residents of Corozal have a right to know how their tax dollars are being spent.

We will attempt to get an interview with the usually-elusive Mayor to get his response to the letter.
