Screen_Shot_2017-10-31_at_7.47.04_PMBack in February of this year, Minister of Transport and National Emergency Management, Hon. Edmund Castro, met with Mexico’s Ambassador to Belize, H.E. Carlos Quesnel Melendez, to discuss and establish opportunities regarding cross-border operations between Belize and the United Mexican States. That meeting was followed by a second which saw the participation of representatives and technical staff belonging to both parties.

Today that goal is one step closer of becoming reality as a Memorandum of Understanding on International Motor Carrier, Passenger and Freight Transportation was signed earlier today in the country’s capital. The MOU was signed between Minister Castro and Federal Motor Carrier General Director, Licenciado Adolfo Luviano Heredia, in the presence of Ambassador Quesnel.

Also present at today’s signing was Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Transport and National Emergency Management, Ruth Meighan.

It is of note that the event went completely under the radar as the media was not informed nor invited to attend the event.
