Screen_Shot_2017-12-27_at_8.00.46_PMA well-known Orange Walk resident is tonight under induced coma at the Karl Huesner Memorial Hospital after he was involved in a traffic accident on Tuesday.

Investigations have revealed that Earl Trapp Mayor of San Ignacio was driving a red Ford Ranger pickup from Orange Walk to Belize City when upon reaching miles 36 and 37 of the Philip Goldson Highway a green Toyota Camry traveling in the opposite direction collided into him. As a result of the impact the Toyota Camry which was driven at the time by 40 year old Ricardo Carcamo overturned.

While authorities are reporting that Carcamo received a fractured leg and head injuries and is in a stable condition at the KHMH we understand from family members that he is in a serious condition and has undergone surgery to stop an internal bleeding.

As for Mayor Earl Trapp who was accompanied by his wife at the time of the accident, he complained of pain but showed no signs of injury.
