Screen_Shot_2018-04-17_at_8.08.02_PMReports coming from Guatemalan media “Guatevision” indicates that two Belizean citizens along with a Guatemalan national were detained by Guatemalan authorities after they were caught fishing illegally in Guatemalan waters near Livingston, Izabal. The men were reportedly caught in the possession of an enormous load of lobsters. Further reports state that this type of fishing is prohibited in the country.

The men were taken to the Captaincy of the Port of Livingston so as to solve their legal and migratory situation. The Belizean men have been identified as Higinio Canto Bacab and Julio Rodríguez Blanco, while the individual of Guatemalan nationality has been identified as Alejandro Rodríguez Ortega. We understand that all men appeared before the Guatemalan court.
