Screen_Shot_2018-05-03_at_7.46.54_PMThis afternoon the two men who were on the run since April 11th after they pulled off a head-scratching escape from the Police Station’s cell block #3 were back in court after they were caught in Orange Walk Town yesterday, Wednesday May 2nd. According to the Police, the men were spotted at one of the cemeteries in Orange Walk Town and the information was passed to the Police. The authorities acted quickly and cordoned the area before moving in to detain the wanted men.

Reference of the two escape prisoners from Corozal on yesterday’s date about 10pm they were captured in the burry ground in Orange Walk as a result this morning Corozal police arrested and charge the two of them; Austin Sutherland and Marvin Pech for the crime of escape and damage to property.”


Following the charges, the men appeared at the Magistrate’s Court this afternoon.


They were both arraigned for escaping from lawful custody and damage to property. Both men pleaded guilty to the escape charge, but not guilty to the damage to property charge.


The Magistrate ordered that the men be remanded and that they return to Court on June 12th at which point they will be sentenced for the escape conviction, and will be receiving their disclosure for the damage to property offence.

Johnito Matus, the third individual who had escaped with Pec and Sutherland, was caught at his home in San Narciso Village on April 24th. When he appeared in Court, he also pleaded guilty to escape and not guilty to damage to property.
