Screen_shot_2011-10-06_at_7.59.47_PMLast week, FIFA officials presented their findings in their investigation into the Football Federation of Belize. In the report, FIFA Commissioners Gerald Henry, Oswald Twist and Chairman Joseph McGann revealed that major in discrepancies were found in the way elections were held to elect district organs. District Chairmen were appointed rather than through convened meetings to have them elected.

But despite the muddy waters, the Football Federation of Belize remains determined to have a good showing on the international stage as Belizes National Selection prepares to pay their third game of a six game series. Belize is part of a four country group competing to advance in the other round of the FIFA World Cup 2014 games to be played in Brazil. Belize is competing against Guatemala, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Grenada to see which two countries will advance to the next round of eliminations.

The last home game played at the FIFA stadium in Belmopan, Belize lost a very close and exciting game against Guatemala, two to one. Tomorrow, the Belmopan home turf for Belize comes alive once again as Belize takes on Grenada in their home game. The last time these two teams met, Belize won that game decisively in Grenada three zip. We spoke to FFB Representative Bernaldino Pech who told us that this time around, Grenada is better prepared as they have called in some of their big named players who are currently playing in the MLS and English leagues.

We know Grenada is coming for a victory, they have lost both their games but our boys are confident and the team has been preparing and we have a coughing staff with head couch Chelato who certainly does a very good job of studying the opponents and having played a game against them already and he goes into each game with a specific game plan on how to neutralize them and how we can be effective against those teams and we certainly look forward to a well played game tomorrow and the boys know it will not be easy.”

Despite the reinforcement called in by the Grenada team, Pech says that the Belize team is very confident and that the Belizean players guarantee fans that they will leave everything on the field.

We know we have good players, we know we have players who can score like Deon McCauley and we have excellent in the goal of our captain so the team is confident and they know what their goals are which is to advance to the other round and they know it will take their best each time they take the field.”

If you havent yet bought your tickets, dont worry, as tickets will still be on sale tomorrow at Yin Saan Restaurant in Belmopan, right next to the FIFA field. Tickets are on sale for $40 each. The game will start tomorrow at 3:30 in the afternoon. We wish our boys good luck in tomorrows game.
