The Orange Walk Rotary Club members completed another of their projects over the weekend and this one’s called the Kind Heart Bag Drive. A few weeks back we told you about their drive to collect used school bags from generous members of the Orange Walk Town. The initiative was to collect as many school bags to then issue to the less privileged children within the community. Vice President of the club, Janelle Ozaeta says they issued the bags over the weekend to some seventy school children.
Janet Ozaeta – Vice president of the club
“We donated 70 school bags to different children from across Orange Walk and we did some in the Palmar area, some in the Trial Farm Area and some as well in Town and this is an annual project that we do. Last year we donated about the same amount and this year the same and our fund raisers that usually cater for this is our Fiesta Rama fund raiser and this year we started a new fund raiser, the Scavenger Hunt and I would like to say thank you to all of our sponsors, to the Rotaractors that came out yesterday that worked hard and diligently, we put smiles on 70 kids yesterday and they were really excited about it. I think for Rotaractor is a big success , we go out there and we gave our bags and we put smiles on different children faces and yesterday the little guy said “yes I got a new bag to go to school” and I think for Rotaractors is a huge success and for the community.”
The project is being carried by the club for the last five years.
