A Florida teacher is facing ten years behind bars after he was arrested in Miami on Friday after investigators say he booked a plane trip to Belize to have sex with two underage girls.
A press release from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement says, 48 year old David Wendel Thompson who has reportedly travelled to Belize nine times since 2011, was refused entry in Belize and then returned to Miami where he was then arrested. Thompson is being charged for enticing minors by holding sexually explicit conversations with a 13-year-old and a 15-year-old in Belize in February.
In those conversations, he discussed flying to Belize to meet the minors and to engage in sexual activity with them. Reports say, a cyber-crimes unit of Homeland Security received information about the chats around March 12th. Thompson committed a federal offence for which he could face ten years to life in prison. He was a social studies teacher at Centennial Middle School in Dade City.
