In Wednesday’s newscast, we showed you the chilling remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump at his annual State of the Union in which he declared that those countries who did not support their decision to move their Embassy to Jerusalem are considered enemies and suggested that Congress should pass a law to cut funding aid to them. For Belize, if this would happen it would mean no more funding for initiatives such as CARSIE which pumps millions of U.S. dollars into improving national security. Today the Prime Minister was asked what he thought of the U.S. President’s comments.

“I completely and absolutely doubt that it is what you said at the start, in terms of CARSI it is not charity from the US it is a matter of pursuing their strategic interest and those interest have not changed and cannot change in terms of the circumstances in the region so again am not worried.”
