On Sunday February 12^th the P.U.P here in Orange Walk held a massive rally that saw the support of more than 6000 northenos. It was an impressive turnout for a party that is in opposition and has low resources. And on Sunday, the P.U.P, this time in Corozal did it again, the only difference was that the number of supporters multiplied. From a police count more than 9,000 residents of the north came out in support of the P.U.P during yesterdays rally. It was like going back to the days when the oldest party in Belize held their love fest, the days when the people of Belize believed in the P.U.P. And considering yesterdays massive turnout those days are coming back, the people of Belize are once again confident that the only party who can move the country forward is the People’s United Party.

It is time for the P.U.P that’s the message that was sent to the Dean Barrow Administration yesterday by more than 9,000 supporters of the People’s United Party. The massive crowd came from all across the north by bus and truck loads. For these party supporters it did not matter if they were jammed up behind a pickup truck, what they wanted was to be part of the blue wave.

By the time the parade moved off from the entrance of Corozal the entire town was painted blue. With their blue and white flags and placards in hand, the multitude of supporters, along with the 8 P.U.P Standard Bearers of the North and Party Leader Francis Fonseca, marched towards Park Street where the rally would be held. Without a doubt it was a P.U.P celebration.

As the sea of blue waved their flags and danced to rhythm of the P.UP beats, the beginning of the parade arrived at Park Street while the end was not even near. The line of vehicles, packed with party supporters, reached further than what the human eye could actually see. In fact, the queue was so far stretched, that not even by zooming out our camera we could capture the tail. And just to clarify we do have top of the line equipment.

Now going back to yesterday’s parade, as the wave of supporters swarmed into Park Street the blue machine cranked up as the four Standard Bearers for Corozal and other members of the P.U.P addressed the crowd.

“No más de la incompetencia de Dean Barrow y de su gobierno, son cuatro anos de desperdicio y nada de crecimiento para nuestro país, en vez de ir adelante estamos peor, mas inseguridad, mas desempleo, nada de inversión extranjera, como ven en cuatro años han puesto el nombre de Corozal en el suelo de ser una de los mejores distritos somos el segundo distrito más pobre del país, ha llegado la hora de hacer el cambio, no mas falsas promesas, no mas imagínense la posibilidades, no podemos darle más tiempo al UDP.”

“Mr. Barrow is using your money to try and buy this election, he is giving millions of dollars to the UDP candidates, millions of dollars to them, to try and buy your vote, but I know he cannot buy your vote, some people in Belize City say Mr. Musa we will take their money and vote them out because we are going to vote for the PUP.”

As you can observe, those speeches surely hyped up the crowd, but that energy shifted into overdrive when Leader of the North Honorable John Briceno and P.U.P Leader Francis Fonseca took the podium.

“Hace cuatro años nos mintieron cuanto nos prometieron, veinte y un promesas que nos dieron, que costo de la vida va a bajar y el costo de la vida sigue alto, que van a bajar el costo de la gasolina y la gasolina se subió, el frijol se subió, el arroz se subió, la tortilla se subió, la carne se subió todo sube menos el sueldo del obrero señoras y señores pero eso no vamos a perdonar a Dean Barrow y al UDP porque el siete de Marzo en Corozal vamos a votar para cuatro representantes del Partido Unido Del Pueblo.  La gente ya están hartos, la gente está cansado, la gente está llorando, la gente esta gritando, la gente está pidiendo para esperanza, y la esperanza solo viene con el Partido Unido Del Pueblo señoras y señores.  Hermanos Belicenos, compatriotas Belicenos hoy estamos celebrando porque hoy sentimos esa victoria en el aire la victoria que la gente espera, la victoria que la gente pide, la victoria que la gente necesita, el pueblo del norte, el pueblo de todo el país de Belice necesita el Partido Unido Del Pueblo señoras y señores, así que una vez más nos vamos a unir con  nuestro líder Francis Fonseca y nos vamos a unir el siete de Marzo y desde Corozal hasta Toledo vamos a votar para el Partido Unido Del Pueblo y nos vamos a Belmopán una vez más para servir el pueblo de Belice.”

This is not enough what is important is that we continue this fight until the last vote is counted on March 7^th and then we will have the great victory celebration of the People’s United Party. We are going to deliver the blue is alive, the PUP is strong, we are ready March 7^th we are marching to victory with the People’s United Party, Corozal is ready, are you ready Corozal, are you ready estan listos, estan listos.”

As the rally came to an end the future leaders of the nation were embraced by the massive crowd. The support showed to them was overwhelming and as the people chanted its time for the P.U.P we managed to get through the multitude and speak with Party Leader Francis Fonseca, Honorable John Briceno and other Standard Bearers.

As mentioned it is estimated that some 9,000 residents of north came out in support of the People’s United Party and their candidates.
