Orange Walk South Shows Massive Support For Abelardo Mai

Screen_shot_2012-02-20_at_8.37.31_PMOn March 7th residents of Orange Walk South will go to the polls and vote for Jose Abelardo Mai. Thats the message that resounded on Saturday night during a rally held in the village of San Felipe once considered a strong hold of the U.D.P. But all indications are that after four years of oppression residents of San Felipe and other constituents of Orange Walk South, including the Blue Creek Community, are ready to make a positive change.

During Saturday nights massive rally the support for Jose Mai was more than obvious as residents of the south took over the rostrum and expressed their discontent with the Dean Barrow Administration. For the farmers of Blue Creek it was their first time on the podium but that did not stop them from speaking out against an administration who they say will take the country to ruins if given another five years to govern Belize.

Edward Reimer- Farmer Blue Creek

Peter Dyck- Farmer Blue Creek

“The UDP government has destroyed the rice industry they believe that they will be able to continue to contraband rice across the Mexico-Belize border for the next twenty years that’s because they cannot see , they have destroyed the onion industry, they have destroyed the potato industry and w have so many farmers, we have so many young farmers wanting to live a decent life, this government that we have now really does not believe I food they believe in petrol, how many people can drink petrol and survive on that, we need to be considerate coming March 7th do we want rice and beans to eat then we need to change government.   Nobody can’t survive competing against the Belize Marketing Board, you walk across the Mexico border to Botes, you can go and buy Circle R rice in Mexico, you can go and buy Belize Marketing Board onions in Mexico because they carry the bags across the border and fill them on that side then they bring them across and it looks like Belizean products.  This UDP government has failed us all, completely failed us, we need to stand up, March 7th se need to bring in March 8th 2012 under a PUP government.”

John Peters- Farmer Blue Creek

“When you study the many years that the PUP has been the government in this country you add up the GDP, the GDP is a number that economist come up with that tells you how good the economy is doing whether we are growing, are we making more money, do we have more money we can spend on our families and on our life styles so it is a measurement it is a number and the bigger the number the better the economy is doing.  When you add up the numbers of the PUP and you divide them by the number of years they’ve been in government it end up to be just a little bit over 6% which is considered very good across the whole world if you consider the numbers of the UDP and you add them all up and you divide them by the number of years that they’ve been in government it divides to less than two, just slightly less than 2%, so which is better six or two, six, when I vote on March 7th I will vote blue, I will vote Jose Abelardo Mai because that is the smart thing to do.”

After listening to speeches from a number of P.U.P Standard Bearers and Orange Walk Area Representative Honorable John Briceno it was time for the man of the hour to take the stage.

Jose Abelardo Mai- P.U.P Orange Walk South Standard Bearer

For Mai his number one priority will be to develop the agriculture industry in the south which is the livelihood of most of the constituents including the Blue Creek farmers.  As mentioned by Mai he is committed to the people of Orange Walk South and will work with farmers of Blue Creek in order to save the rice and cattle industry.
