A fire in Village of August Pine Ridge has left a family of four homeless after their house was completely burnt down. The incident happened at around 8:00 yesterday morning while the family was not at home. Reporter Janine Ayuso and Cameraman Kenric Simpson traveled to the village of August Pine Ridge this morning and filed the following report.

This is what was left of the two bedroom concrete house belonging to the Cordova family after it was devoured by flames. At the time of the incident Manuel Cordova, his wife and two children were not at home.

The first to witness the tragedy was the family’s neighbor Darleny Cordova. Thinking that Manuel and his family were inside the burning home, Cordova quickly alerted the neighbors who came to family’s aid.

But there was little that neighbors could do to save the house.

“Yo estaba durmiendo cuando yo levante y le di de que beber a mis hijos y cuando yo Salí a botar la basura yo solo bidé fuego en la casa y espese a gritar a los vecinos a que vengan a ayudar y auxilio ayúdenme esa cas se está quemando ya había agarrado todo fuego todo alrededor de las casa y eran como quince para las ocho.  Yo gritaba a la mujer pensando que estaba a dentro de la casa a que salga pero no había nadie y grite a Paulina ayuden y estoy gritando a la gente porque como estamos lejos de los vecinos nadie vino y la casa se estaba quemando yo estoy en shocks porque yo creí que la señora se estaba quemando haya dentro, yo todavía estoy en shocks por ver a los niños, por pensar que los niños estaban a dentro, porque yo se que a veces ella no abre la casa y así yo pensé que así ella estaba y así todavía estoy en shocks porque yo bidé la quemazón primera vez en mi vida que lo veo y nunca había visto una casa que se queme.”

By the time Manuel Cordova was informed that his home was under fire, the entire building and its contents, valued at over $40,000 were engulfed in flames. Today when we spoke to Cordova he told us he strongly suspects his home was set on fire.

“Yo me fui a los campos junto con mi señora salimos y deje mi casa así normal como todo el tiempo lo dejo para irme a mi trabajo y a los cuarenta y cinco minutos que yo llegue a mi trabajo que ya había empezado me llamaron que mi casa estaba con fuego  yo no lo creí pero ni modos al llegar acá si lo bidé ya estaba casi todo completamente quemado. Ni se quien, no sé cómo pero nosotros estamos seguro que no fue la estufa eso fue alguien que no me quiere ver bien como yo estoy, ya días tal vez me quiere hace algo hasta que logro lo que hizo y ahora ojala que este conforme en lo que hizo, no tengo a ningún enemigo acá en Pine Ridge.”

Manuel Cordova and his family will now be staying at a relatives home until they can get back on their feet.

CTV3 News understands that Cordova has filed a report to the police department. According to the family the Fire Department was never called to the scene.
