Politics

The days leading up to both Municipal and General Elections will without a doubt be interesting ones. Both major parties have oiled their political machineries and from the looks of it the campaign towards elections is in full swing. In the Orange Walk North constituency, represented by the Honorable Gaspar Vega, last minute works are presently being done in efforts to gain political mileage. But according to Orange Walk North PUP Standard Bearer Jorge Briceño, Vegas bag of tricks wont work.

“I am asking him and am asking the people of Orange Walk how many new jobs has Mr. Vega brought in the area, the other day I listen t his radio show and I would never brag about 2.9 million dollar drainage to empty my pool and my family’s pool because some of those drains were put in high lands, I’ve been walking black water I wee that drain it isn’t worth 2.8 million, 2.8 million dollars can bring a lot of jobs, can bring new industries to Orange Walk North this is what the people want, this is what the people need a way to make a living not a hand out, I was glad when I heard him on the radio saying that he doesn’t think that any politician that gives fifty dollars or a hundred dollars for a vote is worth representing the people.”

Today Briceño told CTV3 News that he welcomed the news of early elections because he is confident that the people of Orange Walk North are ready to make a change.

Jorge Briceño, PUP O/W Standard Bearer

“I am very grateful for all their support and I thank them and no matter what the result is we will continue to work, the People’s United Party continue working for the people of Belize and to serve the people of Belize, I wholly believe that the outcome of this election is at the hands of the Belizean people and everybody especially here in Orange Walk North you all have to decide who have the best interest, who is the better person, whose going to be fighting for you in all the industries including the sugar cane, the bus issues that we had, I have never seen the minister or the representative of Orange Walk being involved, I think that we all have to bring new industries to the area to bring jobs, bring a salary first of all to the families so that they can sustain themselves.”

Briceño also mentioned that win or lose; he will keep fighting for the people.
