P.U.P Corozal Bay Holds Sporting Event

Screen_shot_2012-01-30_at_8.00.13_PMOn Sunday January 29th the P.U.P Corozal Bay Constituency, held a one day sporting event at the Bacadia Sporting Complex located in the South End Area of Corozal Town. The event which included a basketball, volleyball and five a side marathon was coordinated by the P.U.P Standard Bearer for Corozal Bay Gregorio Papas Garcia Jr., in conjunction with P.U.P Mayoral Candidate Anwar Charaf and his team of councilors. The aim of the sporting event, according to Chairman of the Corozal Bay Constituency Roberto Pasos, is to keep youth away from the streets.

“Create an environment of clean town here in Corozal Town all of it doing it through sporting activities as I mention it came to have the youths of Corozal involved in positive activities and this is what really is all about creating an environment for our youths.”

“It benefits in different ways, you have the youths being involve in clean fun positive activities and then also you create an environment of togetherness because that is what it is all about.”

A total of 46 teams participated in the sporting event which also created and opportunity for other members of the community.

“Give thanks to all who assisted in one way or the other, give thanks to the teams that participated, to the community and invite the community for any other future event, we are open for you to participate join us and the team is really serious about making a difference here in Corozal Town.”

According to Pasos, in their manifesto, the Corozal P.U.P 7 Team also pledges to work with the youth of Corozal Town in a number of sporting events.
